Offered here is a genuinely rare piece of WWII Japanese military equipment: a Type 11 hopper feed system for the Type 11 Nambu Light Machine Gun (LMG), complete with its original canvas carrying pouch.
The Type 11 Nambu LMG was Japan’s first domestically-designed light machine gun, adopted in 1922 and produced until 1941. Though superseded by newer models, the Type 11 remained in frontline use throughout World War II, especially in early and mid-war campaigns. One of its most unique features was its hopper-fed mechanism, which allowed loading with standard 5-round Arisaka rifle stripper clips—eliminating the need for belts or magazines.
This hopper assembly is an original WWII-period piece, extremely scarce today and in excellent condition. It comes with its wartime-issued canvas pouch, which still retains original stitching.
Due to their low survival rate, separate hopper systems are highly sought after by collectors of Japanese militaria, WWII machine gun accessories, and Imperial Army gear. This is a rare opportunity to acquire a key component of the Type 11 LMG system—seldom encountered on the market in such complete form.
