Extremely Rare SA Reiterjugend Trophy – Cast Iron Plaque on Marble Base, Personalized “Horse Bubi 1933/38 – Emil Refflinghaus”
An exceptionally rare and characterful trophy, composed of a cast iron plaque of the SA Deutschen Reiterjugend(German Riding Youth), elegantly mounted on a marble base. This piece is in very fine condition overall, with the iron plaque showing detailed relief and a deep patina consistent with its age. The marble base is intact, with only minimal signs of wear.
What makes this piece truly unique is the personalized inscription on the front of the marble base:
“‘Horse’ Bubi 1933/38 – Emil Refflinghaus”
This engraving gives a rare and intimate glimpse into its original context: awarded or dedicated to farmer Emil Refflinghaus, likely in connection with his horse Bubi, spanning the years 1933 to 1938.
This period marks the rise of the Deutsche Reiterjugend under the SA (Sturmabteilung), where horse riding and paramilitary training were intertwined for youth and rural participants in Nazi Germany.
While the maker of the cast plaque is unknown, the casting quality is excellent, and the imagery—likely featuring mounted riders and SA symbolism—is crisp and deeply struck.
The plaque itself measures approximately 13 cm in diameter, and the total height including the base is around 16 cm.
This is not just a militaria item; it is a one-of-a-kind display piece that bridges SA-affiliated youth equestrianism with the personal pride of a rural German horseman during the early years of the Third Reich!!
