Ultra-Rare 2nd Place Award Plaque – Großer Preis der Reichshauptstadt im Eiskunstlaufen für Juniorinnen, March 1940 – Mint with Original Case
Offered here is an exceptionally rare and historical award plaque presented for 2nd Place (2. Platz) in the Großer Preis der Reichshauptstadt im Eiskunstlaufen für Juniorinnen (Grand Prize of the Reich Capital in Figure Skating for Junior Girls), held in March 1940.
This unique plaque is preserved in superb mint condition and comes in its original presentation case, which is likewise in excellent mint condition.
Inside the lid of the case is the maker’s mark: Robert Neff, Berlin – Bülowstraße 101, a known Berlin-based manufacturer of high-quality medals and awards during the period.
The plaque is an evocative and beautifully made piece, commemorating a high-level figure skating competition held in Nazi Germany’s capital during wartime – a rare glimpse into civilian life and organized sports under the regime. It was almost certainly awarded to one of the top junior figure skaters of the time.
Items of this type were extremely limited in production, intended for select recipients only, and are almost never seen on the market today – particularly not in such immaculate condition and with the original case preserved.
Plaque dimensions: 8.7 x 8.7 cm
Case dimensions: 12 x 12 cm
A truly rare and important piece for collectors of sports memorabilia, WW2-era awards, or Third Reich history.
