Luftschutz Decoration 2nd Class (Luftschutz-Ehrenzeichen 2. Stufe)
The Luftschutz Medal was instituted by Adolf Hitler on January 30, 1938, in two classes, to recognize personnel who had been actively involved in Germany’s air raid protection efforts since January 1933. These decorations were awarded to members of several key organizations, including the RLB (Reichs Luftschutz Bund), the SHD (Sicherheits und Hilfs Dienst), the Werkschutz, and the Ordnungspolizei.
This particular example is the heavy zinc version, retaining its original short ribbon exactly as it was found. The medal displays sharp, detailed features, a testament to the quality of its production despite the material used later in the war.
