This artifact is an original, unused German civilian gas mask filter from the World War II era, still preserved in its original packaging. The filter is marked with official production stamps and identification codes, which indicate its manufacturer, production date, and compliance with wartime regulations.

During World War II, the German government issued gas masks to both military personnel and civilians as a precaution against potential chemical attacks. While chemical warfare was not widely used in combat during the conflict, the fear of such attacks led to mass production and distribution of protective equipment. Civilians, particularly those living in cities targeted by air raids, were encouraged to keep gas masks readily available.
