For sale is an original “Wir Fahren gegen Engelland” ring in very good condition, made of Alpacca (nickel silver), as clearly engraved on the inside of the band.
This patriotic ring is a striking artifact from WWII, issued during the early stages of the war, particularly around the time of the planned invasion of Britain (Operation Sea Lion) in 1940.
The design of this ring is especially rare and desirable, featuring both a U-boat (submarine) and a warplane, symbolizing the Kriegsmarine and the Luftwaffe's role in the Battle of Britain and the naval blockade of the UK. Most rings from this period typically depict only one military branch—this combination makes it a collector’s piece.
These rings were not official military issue but were privately purchased by soldiers and sailors, often as patriotic souvenirs or gifts. They were commonly worn by Kriegsmarine and Luftwaffe personnel who took part in or supported the anti-British campaign. The phrase “Wir fahren gegen Engelland” (“We’re going against England”) comes from a popular wartime marching song, reflecting the aggressive propaganda of the era.
This example is well-preserved, with crisp details and minimal wear, making it a valuable addition to any WWII militaria collection.
