German Black Wound Badge (Verwundetenabzeichen) – L/18
Kan beschikbaarheid voor afhalen niet laden
Offered here is an original WWII German Black Wound Badge (Verwundetenabzeichen in Schwarz), manufactured by B.H. Meyers Hofkunstprägeanstalt, identified by the L/18 maker code.
This is a correct iron wartime example, retaining a good portion of its original blackened finish, now showing honest age, wear, and patina consistent with period use. A notable feature of this badge is that the “L/18” maker mark is stamped directly into the pin, a known and correct characteristic for certain Meyers-produced pieces and a detail appreciated by knowledgeable collectors.
The reverse construction consists of a wrap-around oval hinge paired with a classic iron “question mark” catch, both original and securely attached. This hardware configuration is well documented for L/18 production and fully consistent with authentic wartime manufacture.
All components are original and unaltered, with no repairs, restorations, or post-war modifications. The obverse details—helmet, crossed swords, and laurel wreath—remain clear and well defined.
This example is classified as Rarity 2/5, making it less common than standard unmarked pieces while still representing a solid and desirable maker variant for collectors of German wound badges.
