Mutter Kreuz Bronze (with long ribbon)
Kan beschikbaarheid voor afhalen niet laden
For sale is an original Bronze Mother’s Cross (Mutterkreuz), the award introduced in 1938 as part of the Third Reich’s efforts to promote large families. The bronze grade was presented to mothers with four or five children, forming the middle tier of the decoration’s hierarchy.
This example comes with its original long ribbon, a desirable feature that has become increasingly harder to find in complete, untouched condition. The cross retains strong color and detail, with the characteristic deep blue and white enamel.
There is a small enamel loss at the lower arm of the cross, an age-related flaw often seen on these pieces due to the fragility of the enamel. Despite this, the central medallion with “Der Deutschen Mutter” remains sharp and fully intact.
The overall presentation is authentic and appealing, and the presence of the original ribbon adds significantly to its historical and collector’s value. Many examples had their ribbons shortened or replaced post-war, making a complete set like this more sought-after.
A genuine and evocative Bronze Mother’s Cross — complete with original ribbon and carrying the marks of time that reflect its long historical journey.
