WWI U.S. Army Ordnance Officer Tunic – 1st Lt., 4 Campaign Stars, Overseas

A beautiful and completely original U.S. Army officer’s tunic from World War I, belonging to a First Lieutenant of the Ordnance Corps — the branch responsible for the supply, maintenance, and repair of weapons, ammunition, and military equipment.

The tunic retains all of its original insignia and buttons, including:

• Bronze Ordnance Corps collar insignia, featuring the American eagle over a wheel with crossed cannons and stars.
• Silvered First Lieutenant rank bars on both shoulder straps.
• A WWI Victory Medal ribbon bar with four bronze campaign stars, representing participation in four major combat campaigns on the Western Front.
• Two overseas service chevrons on the lower sleeve, each indicating six months of overseas duty — confirming that this officer served at least one full year in Europe during the war.

The tunic shows honest wear from service: a few small moth holes, a minor tear in the pocket lining, and sweat marks under the arms, all consistent with authentic field use. Inside one sleeve are three hand-written service numbers, suggesting that the jacket was issued to three different officers during or shortly after the war.

This is a superb and historically rich example of a WWI U.S. officer’s tunic — complete, untouched, and full of character, representing a front-line Ordnance Corps officer who saw extensive overseas service.
