Original World War II German metal first aid box (Verbandkasten), used for medical supplies during the early war period. This example features the Red Cross emblem painted on the lid and retains its original German contents list and usage instructions, clearly dated 1939 on the inside label.

The box shows heavy, honest wartime wear with surface rust, paint loss, and patina consistent with long-term field or storage use. Despite this, it remains structurally solid with intact hinges, latches, and carrying handle. The interior wooden lining and metal divider are still present, making this a highly desirable untouched original rather than a restored piece.

Boxes like this were issued for use by Wehrmacht units, vehicles, depots, and medical posts, serving as standardized storage for bandages, disinfectants, and medical tools. The survival of the original printed instruction sheet significantly enhances both historical value and display appeal.

An excellent artifact for collectors of WWII medical equipment, Wehrmacht field gear, or German Red Cross–related items.
