The Anschluss Medal (officially called *Medaille zur Erinnerung an den 1. Oktober 1938* in German) was an award of Nazi Germany. The decoration, a commemorative medal, was instituted by Adolf Hitler on October 18, 1938, following the annexation of the Sudetenland, which he had forced through threats of violence.
Originally, the medal was awarded for contributions to the "Anschluss," the union of Germany and the Sudetenland.
