Original WW2 German Mess Kit – C&C.W.40 – Hard-Used Condition
For sale is an authentic WW2 German Mess Kit , clearly marked C&C.W.40 , indicating manufacture by Cramer & Co., Witten in 1940 . This is a textbook example of an early-war issue Kochgeschirr M31 mess tin, used by the Wehrmacht and other German forces throughout the Second World War.
The kit is in heavily used condition , showing lots of wear and tear consistent with long field service. The original field-grey paint is mostly worn off, and there are several dents and scratches throughout – all adding to its character and historical value. The handle and closure mechanism still function as intended.
These early-war examples, especially with clear wartime maker and date markings, are becoming increasingly scarce – particularly ones that have clearly “been there”.
