Iron Example with Flatwire Catch & Wrap-Around Hinge

This badge shows strong period wear and patina, fully consistent with an authentic combat-issued award. A very solid and honest example from a well-known Austrian maker.

Historical Context
The Black Wound Badge was awarded for one or two combat wounds, or injuries sustained through enemy action. Iron examples such as this were mass-produced for frontline use, and most surviving pieces show honest wear—making heavily patinated originals like this especially appealing to advanced collectors.
Maker-marked black wound badges are increasingly difficult to find, particularly in unaltered condition.
Condition
- Original wartime piece
