Original WWII German Notek Rear Light – Eastern Front Ground Find
Couldn't load pickup availability
Offered here is an original WWII German Notek rear light, as used on German military vehicles and armored fighting vehicles, including tanks, halftracks, and trucks. This example is a genuine Eastern Front ground find, personally recovered, and remains in completely untouched condition.
Description
The Notek rear light was an essential component of the German blackout and convoy lighting system, designed to allow vehicles to follow each other at night while remaining extremely difficult to detect from a distance or from the air. This example retains its original red lenses, clearly visible despite heavy corrosion and surface wear.
The metal housing shows strong patina, oxidation, and remnants of original wartime paint, fully consistent with long-term burial. The mounting bracket, fasteners, and wiring exit are still present, making this a remarkably complete survivor considering its battlefield recovery. No restoration, cleaning, or repairs have been carried out.
Historical Context
Notek lights were standard equipment on German vehicles throughout the war and played a crucial role in night movements, convoy driving, and tactical concealment. Rear Notek lights are particularly evocative artifacts, as they were exposed to constant use, damage, and post-war destruction. As a result, original rear units recovered from the Eastern Front are scarce, especially in this untouched state.
