Original WWII Soviet Tank Crew Helmet – Type TSh-3 (Shlemofon)
Couldn't load pickup availability
This is an original World War II Soviet tank crew helmet, officially known as the TSh-3 (ТШ-3) “shlemofon”, used extensively by Red Army armored vehicle crews throughout the Second World War.
Constructed from heavy padded canvas, this helmet was designed to provide impact protection, insulation, and noise reduction inside armored vehicles. The exterior features the characteristic four padded longitudinal ribs, while the wide ear sections allowed for the use of early tank intercom and radio systems.
The interior retains its original wool/flannel lining, showing the typical Soviet camouflage-like patterning used to improve comfort and warmth. All original straps, buckles, and buttons are present, including the large four-hole Soviet composite button.
This example shows honest wartime wear, surface fading, and age-related patina consistent with genuine combat use. There is no post-war restoration, making this a highly authentic and desirable piece.
A rare and iconic item for collectors of WWII Soviet militaria, armored warfare enthusiasts, or museum-quality displays focusing on the Eastern Front.
