An original Reichsluftschutzbund (RLB) membership badge from the Second World War period.

This is the desirable first pattern small member badge (18 mm) featuring the classic blue enamel RLB monogram on a sunburst star with swastika — the well-known emblem of the German Air Raid Protection League.

The reverse is correctly marked:

H. AURICH DRESDEN – GES. GESCH.

Badges by Aurich are well-documented wartime produced examples and widely collected among Luftschutz and civil defence collectors.

The enamel remains nicely preserved with attractive honest wear and a natural aged patina. The original pin assembly is intact and functions properly.

A very collectible early-type RLB membership badge worn by civilian air-raid protection personnel during the bombing war.

Historical background

The Reichsluftschutzbund organised civilian protection against Allied bombing raids. Members were trained in firefighting, rescue operations, blackout control and gas protection. Small lapel badges like this were worn daily, making well-preserved early examples increasingly difficult to find today.
