Original German Kriegsverdienstkreuz 2. Klasse mit Schwertern (War Merit Cross 2nd Class with Swords) awarded during the Second World War for merit under combat-related conditions.
This example is an unmarked wartime produced cross and comes complete with its full length original ribbon, a configuration increasingly difficult to find as most surviving examples have shortened ribbons.
The swords variant was awarded to soldiers and personnel whose service supported combat operations but did not meet the criteria for the Iron Cross.
The cross shows a pleasing untouched patina and honest wartime finish.
