WW2 Dutch Market Garden Resistance Medal Railway Strike 1944 Bronze
Couldn't load pickup availability
An original Dutch World War II commemorative medal honoring the historic railway strike ordered by the Dutch government in exile on 17 September 1944 in support of the Allied airborne landings during Operation Market Garden.
The strike, carried out by employees of the Nederlandsche Spoorwegen (Dutch Railways), severely disrupted German logistics and transport capacity in the occupied Netherlands and became one of the most important acts of organized civilian resistance during the war.
The medal features strong symbolic imagery:
- Winged railway wheel representing the Dutch railways
- Resistance symbolism and tools
- Reverse inscription commemorating the unified compliance with the strike order
- Large bronze issue intended as an official remembrance piece
This is not a small wearable decoration but a substantial presentation medallion.
Diameter: 5 cm
Material: Bronze
Condition: Very good, natural patina, no damage
A historically significant and desirable piece of Dutch resistance history — rarely encountered outside the Netherlands and highly collectible among WWII occupation and resistance collectors.
Perfect for advanced World War II collections, railway history collections, or Dutch occupation memorabilia displays.
