WWII German Infantry Assault Badge (Infanterie-Sturmabzeichen) – Hollow Variant
Couldn't load pickup availability
Offered here is an original World War II German Infantry Assault Badge (Infanterie-Sturmabzeichen) in hollow construction, an increasingly scarce variant compared to the later solid types.
The badge features the classic oval oak-leaf wreath surrounding a diagonally placed Karabiner 98k rifle, surmounted by the Wehrmacht eagle clutching a swastika. The details remain crisp, with clear feathering on the eagle, well-defined oak leaves, and strong relief throughout.
This example is unmarked, which is correct and encountered on many period-produced hollow badges. The reverse shows a functional pin and catch, with the pin mechanism working 100% and retaining good tension. The hinge, pin, and catch are all period-correct and untouched.
Constructed in zinc, the badge displays an attractive, honest patina consistent with age, including typical oxidation and surface wear. There is no damage, no repairs, and no post-war alterations. A very solid and authentic example suitable for both advanced collections and high-quality displays.
Historical Background
The Infantry Assault Badge was instituted in 1939 and awarded to members of the German Heer infantry units who participated in multiple front-line infantry assaults. It remains one of the most iconic and widely collected combat awards of the Second World War.
